Catalunya (Cataluña en castellà, Catalonha en occità) és un país europeu situat a la Mediterrània occidental constituït com a comunitat autònoma d'Espanya. Se situa a la costa nord-est de la península Ibèrica i limita al nord amb Andorra i França, a l'oest amb l'Aragó, al sud amb el País Valencià i a l'est amb el mar Mediterrani. Catalunya és la part més extensa del territori històric i cultural del Principat de Catalunya i de tot el conjunt de terres de parla catalana o Països Catalans. Amb una població estimada de 7.600.065 d'habitants el 2019 (segons l'IDESCAT), agrupa el 51,55 % de la població total dels Països Catalans.

Catalonia (/ˌkætəˈloʊniə/; Catalan: Catalunya [kətəˈluɲə]; Aranese: Catalonha [kataˈluɲɔ]; Spanish: Cataluña [kataˈluɲa]) is an autonomous community on the northeastern corner of Spain, self-designated as a nationality by its Statute of Autonomy. Catalonia consists of four provinces: Barcelona, Girona, Lleida, and Tarragona. The capital and largest city is Barcelona, the second-most populated municipality in Spain and the core of the sixth most populous urban area in the European Union. It comprises most of the territory of the former Principality of Catalonia (with the remainder Roussillon now part of France's Pyrénées-Orientales, Occitanie). It is bordered by France (Occitanie) and Andorra to the north, the Mediterranean Sea to the east, and the Spanish autonomous communities of Aragon to the west and Valencia to the south. The official languages are Catalan, Spanish, and the Aranese dialect of Occitan.
